Viable Cells

Study Summary

This study demonstrates that lyopreservation of amniotic membrane (AM) using a novel lyophilization – or freeze drying –  method preserves viable cells within the tissue. For the first time, this research indicates these cells are not only viable but also functional. Through in vitro assays, it is revealed that post-lyophilization AM cells maintain their differentiation potential and exhibit anti-fibrotic activity.
